“Why am I still retelling this old story of how that person wronged me?”

When we retell an old story, an old pain, we give energy to it and form a stronger connection to it. Retelling that story makes it more important, more significant. Don’t let that story or person get Air Time. Like a fire that needs oxygen to burn, stop giving it oxygen. To become the best version of you, you must move past the problems, current or past. Vow to stop retelling that story over the potato salad at the BBQ. Be in solution mode. 80% of your time goes to the solution (if there is one) and 20% to the problem. Your old business partner that took more than his fair share in that deal? The job you didn’t get? Do something about it, or stop thinking about it. Stop telling that damn story at BBQs! Don’t let it occupy your valuable mental real estate! Teaching yourself where to put your focus and energy will pay you massive dividends. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀? Where are you retelling an old story that doesn’t serve you? Reliving a past hurt and reconnecting to it each time? Who is getting Air Time in our minds, that doesn’t deserve it? Here are 3 Steps to tackle it: 1st: Identify it. The person, the story, the situation. You retell it, you get upset, you get angry, if this story—makes you wanna punch someone in the face, then you found it! 2nd: Determine if something needs to be done about it? Have you wronged someone you need to right? Is there a lesson you need to learn? 3rd: Stop retelling the story (at the BBQ or in your mind) and move forward. When facing these situations ask yourself- Can I change it? Can I do something about it? If not—then move forward. Focus on your next steps and the solutions that lay ahead, not behind you.
